Little Black Dress 2019!

The Junior League of Waterloo-Cedar Falls is going "Plain for a Purpose" September 16-20 and wearing the same little black dress with a branded button that encourages people to "ask me about my dress." Each day we are highlighting some of the struggles facing teenagers in the Cedar Valley like: food insecurity, homelessness, period poverty, mental health and lack of supplies needed to excel in school.

Founded in 2014 by the Junior League of London, #TheLBDI is a social media-driven awareness campaign and fundraiser. I will be wearing the same black dress for 5 consecutive working days in order to:

  • OFFER AN OPPORTUNITY  to donate in support of the Junior League of Waterloo-Cedar Falls and our mission of training volunteer civic leaders and our development of new community programs.
  • UNDERSTAND how limited resources affect daily life; and
  • RAISE AWARENESS of our League’s issue (Positively Impacting Teenagers) specifically highlighting the difficulties facing those who are in need and have few resources

Please help support our first LIttle Black Dress Initiative and make a donation today. The money we raise throughout this week will go toward furthering the mission of the Junior League so we can continue training the amazing women leaders to give back to Waterloo-Cedar Falls while at the same time making a difference in the lives of teenagers through the programs we provide  like Prom's Closet and League's Lockers.
